Strombocactus Cactus
The Strombocactus is a succulent plant native to Mexico and belonging to the Cactaceae family. It is small in size, the only one of the Strombocactus genus, and is formed by a cylindrical and flattened stem, characterized by the presence of floss, especially in old plants. The stem is covered with grey-green spiralled tubercles. The areolas are on the tops of the tubercles with about 1-4 thorns in adult plants. The thorns are present only on young tubercles, and over time they will fall off, which is why they are not found at the base of the plant. The funnel-shaped flowers appear at the apex of the stem and are creamy yellow or deep pink.
